On a quite another level: Debian used to be the only distribution I didn't quite understand as a kid. I remember having a CD collection of several different distro's. (among those were Red Hat 5.0, Caldera, SuSE, Slackware and Mandriva)
Back then I was probably was most fond of Red hat 5.2 because of how RPM-packages made things easier. Also was the first distribution I came in touch with via a book. (Linux in 24 hours)
SuSE was also interesting on how things worked different. But damn, YaST a was real agony considering speed.
I remember dependencies where a big bitch. APT certainly must have been a milestone looking at that.
Back then I was like 12, so it is easy to grasp why I didn't get certain things. Linux has always intrigued me though. Reading the stories about Debian here, knowing how stubborn they can be on points, and...
